Air Marshal Pankaj Mohan Sinha takes charge of Western Air Command of Indian Air Force

Air Marshal Pankaj Mohan Sinha is a graduate of the National Defense Academy, Pune and was commissioned into the Indian Air Force as a fighter aircraft pilot in June 1985. Shri Sinha is also an alumnus of the prestigious Defense Services Staff College, Wellington. He is an experienced fighter pilot and has served in various capacities as 'A' Category Accredited Flying Instructor, Fighter Striker Leader, Instrument Rating Instructor and Examiner. Air Marshal Sinha has more than 4500 hours of flying experience.

Shri Sinha has held many important command and staff appointments during his service career spanning over 37 years. These include appointments like Commanding Officer of a Fighter Squadron and Chief Flying Instructor (Flying) at a flying station. Additionally, he served as Training Coordination Officer at Royal Air Force Valley in the UK, where he flew Hawk aircraft. Air Marshal Pankaj has also served as Principal Director Personnel Officer at Air Headquarters, Commanding Air Officer of a prestigious Air Force Station, Air Assistant to the Chief of the Air Staff and Assistant to the Chief of Air Operations (Invasion) at Air Headquarters. He is a Commodore Commandant of a major fighter squadron and before assuming the present appointment he held the post of Director General of Air Operations at Air Headquarters.

Air Marshal Pankaj Mohan Sinha has been awarded 'Vishisht Seva Medal' and 'Ati Vishisht Seva Medal'. Shri Mohan Sinha succeeds Air Marshal S Prabhakaran, who retires on 31 December 2022 after serving more than 39 years of distinguished service in the Indian Air Force.
