The Railway Protection Force has the highest number of women personnel in India
is a premier security and law enforcement agency in the field of railway security in India. It was established in the year 1957 for better safety and security of railway property. This force also has an important role in passenger safety and convenience. Women are recognized as love, care, strength and eternal and the proportion of women personnel in RPF is 9 percent, which is the highest compared to other central paramilitary forces.
Specially trained to ensure safety of passengers and provide assistance to women passengers in distress, this force ensures a safe environment for passengers. RPF has taken several measures to promote women empowerment and cater to the needs of women personnel while performing their duties.
Development of Infrastructure – Creation of standardized barracks, changing rooms and other facilities keeping in mind the special needs of women officers deployed for train escort duty.
Nomination of Nodal Officers – Nomination of women nodal officers in all areas/units to redress the grievances of women employees and also ensure that their voices are heard and needs are met.
