Surgeon Vice Admiral Kavita Sahai appointed as Director General Medical Services (Navy)


On October 14, 2024, Surgeon Vice Admiral Kavita Sahai, SM, VSM officially assumed the position of Director General Medical Services (Navy). This appointment is significant as it highlights the increasing presence of women in high-ranking positions within the Indian Armed Forces. Prior to this role, Vice Admiral Sahai had notable achievements, including being the first female officer to command the Army Medical Corps Centre and College in Lucknow, a significant milestone since the institution’s establishment 74 years ago.

As the Director General Medical Services, Vice Admiral Sahai will be responsible for overseeing the medical services of the Navy, ensuring effective healthcare delivery to personnel, and enhancing the overall health infrastructure within the naval forces.
