Big Infrastructure Push: ₹4,570-Crore Projects Launched in Kokrajhar
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for multiple development projects worth over ₹4,570 crore in Kokrajhar, located in Assam. The initiatives are aimed at boosting infrastructure, connectivity and socio-economic growth in the Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR) and surrounding areas.

 

The projects cover key sectors including road infrastructure, rail connectivity, education, healthcare and urban development. Several initiatives are focused on strengthening transportation networks and improving public services, which are expected to enhance regional connectivity and create new economic opportunities.

 

Addressing the gathering, the Prime Minister highlighted the government’s commitment to the holistic development of the Northeast region, emphasizing that improved infrastructure and welfare schemes will accelerate growth and improve the quality of life for people in the region.

 

He also noted that the projects would contribute to employment generation, tourism development and better connectivity, strengthening Assam’s role in India’s growth story. The Prime Minister reiterated that the Centre remains dedicated to transforming the Northeast into a gateway for trade and development.

 

The launch of these projects marks another step in the government’s broader push to enhance infrastructure and development across the Northeast India, with special focus on improving connectivity and promoting inclusive growth in the region.
