Indian Railways gets approval for 6 multi tracking projects
The Government of India has taken a big decision to remove congestion on railway tracks and increase traffic. Six multi-tracking projects of Indian Railways have been approved in the meeting of the Economic Affairs Committee of the Cabinet chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Through these multi-tracking projects, it will help in combining rail travel on railway tracks, reduce logistics costs, reduce oil imports and will also help in curbing pollution.
6 Multi Tracking Projects will cover 18 districts of 6 states Rajasthan, Assam, Telangana, Gujarat, Andhra Pradesh and Nagaland which will add 1020 kilometers to the existing railway network and equivalent to 3 crore man-days in these states. People will be able to get employment. These railway routes are very important for the transportation of food commodities, fertilizers, coal, iron, steel, flyash, clinker, limestone, POL. Multi-tracking will lead to a huge increase in freight traffic.
In the meeting, 6 projects of the Railway Ministry have been approved which will cost Rs 12,343 crore. The entire funding of these projects will be done by the central government. The multi-tracking proposal on the busiest sections of Indian Railways will help in reducing congestion on railway tracks and improving operations.
These projects will be prepared under PM Gatishakti National Master Plan for multi-modal connectivity so that the movement of passengers and goods services can be seamless. The sections where work on multi tracking projects will be done include Ajmer – Chanderiya in Rajasthan, Jaipur – Sawai Madhopur, Gujarat – Luni-Samdari-Bhildi in Rajasthan. Agathodi – Kamakhya in Assam, Lumding – Furkating in Assam – Nagaland and Motumari and Vishnupuram in Telangana – Andhra Pradesh.
