Scientists Develop Hybrid Rheometer for Next-Gen Smart Fluids
Magnetorheological fluids are smart materials whose viscosity changes rapidly when exposed to a magnetic field. These fluids have wide-ranging applications in automotive systems, aerospace, robotics, biomedical devices, vibration control, precision engineering, and adaptive manufacturing technologies.
The newly developed hybrid rheometer combines advanced magnetic field generation with high-precision rheological measurements, allowing researchers to better understand the behaviour of nano-engineered MR fluids under dynamic operating conditions. The system offers enhanced accuracy, improved control, and greater flexibility for evaluating the performance of smart fluids.
The development is expected to accelerate research on nano-enabled magnetorheological fluids, helping scientists optimize their composition and performance for high-end engineering applications. It also supports the development of indigenous technologies in advanced materials and smart manufacturing, contributing to innovation in strategic and industrial sectors.
The new hybrid magneto rheometer is expected to serve as an important research tool for academia, research institutions, and industry, enabling the development of more efficient, reliable, and high-performance smart fluid technologies for future applications.
